The sneaker has become a global phenomenon, and with the rise in demand for bespoke and custom sneakers companies have started to try and give the buyer more control over the design. Services such as NIKEiD let the consumer choose a popular model of footwear and select the colours and materials used in its construction.
Puma have the ‘Mongolian Shoe BBQ’, which is similar to iD but is more stylised and themed with a greater selection of colours and materials. Adidas are yet to enter this area of uber-bespoke footwear.
Create a concept and identity for Adidas that will allow them to challenge Nike and Puma in the world of sneaker customization. What features are going to give Adidas the edge and how can the concept be exposed to the sneaker freaks?

Adidas does the Adicolor range which are trainers that come with mini markers and mini spray cans and interchangeable stripes so you can customize their trainers how you want, and it is quite a popular series.. But it is a purely cosmetic change... Will yours be more dramatic?
A well written intial proposal- good to see that you have started to look at aims aims and outcomes.
I will now forward the core concept to my contacts at BITE and hope we get a prompy response. I will suggest that the agency meet with you to 'flesh out' the project.

Its a good concept, but adicolor was a huge success and the reason for that was because that were collectable items. How are you going to match up to that standard? also would your range just be based in the UK or in the whole of europe?
Yes the adicolor range was a big success, but really isn't the market and group i'm aiming at. As i stated its NIKEID and PUMA SHOE BBQ that im up against, where the sneaker is custom made to your desires and fro the real enthusiast, who knows what they are talking about and what they want from a sneaker. I do have a concept at the moment that utilizes areas of the sneaker that are not currently used in customization. I also have a theme that will influence the style of the possible advertising but i'mk not going to realease anything on here just yet as i want to be 100% sure about my concept idea.
i get what you mean about adicolor being somewhat of a different creature. adicolor is like customisation my hand that happens post-manufacture. the nikeid style is pre-manufacture design bespoke stuff. have you thought about designing the actual interface thaqt would be used to design custom trainers. like nikeid has the website, you could have too. or something better like a terminal in a wall like a cash point. whack it on carnaby street or something and in other cool places. people could just go up. touch the screen a bit. slap their card in and wait for them to come in the post. could be good supporting material next to a finished shoe in a perspex box at the show
