Recently there was a competition for a favourite 'busKING or queen'. The winner of the competition, declared a couple of weeks ago is a girl called Hadar Manor.
She claims to be in the process of writing her own songs and compiling a CD. So I thought it may be interesting to do her promotional graphics for her- CD cover, posters, perhaps website etc.
Considering she is starting now, it would be a process that involves atleast 4 months, which means she could potentially launch her album around the same time as the show..

sounds good, but no offence buskers aren't really big. You may see them once on the telly, then after that they're a thing of the past. Are you sure you want to go this route? because you are a good designer and I think you can promote yourself in other ways.
i think its an alright idea but i think your capeable of something a lot more interesting, i don't think it would challenge yourself enough. have you approached her with the idea?
Pri maybe you can try to make her a star! If you can get her promo all over London, people will definitely start to recognize another 'D list celeb'?

I did e-mail her yesterday. She hasn't replied yet, and if she doesn't in the next couple of days, I know where she's playing so I could just go to her.
But since common consent so far is that the project is banal- I will perhaps rethink things and see how much it is exciting me.
The reasons that it is appealing to me are:
1) The "real" factor- it would be interesting to watch a project unravel
2) I love music, and have always wanted to do a related project but nothing so far has enticed me
3) Underground graphics and visuals are quite appealing as ideas for part of the campaign
Coming from India, buskers have a sense of amazing uniqueness, which I realize is not shared by people who have lived here their whole lives- as there is no novelty factor-which is a problem for me!
Thanks for the thoughts so far, I'd be happy for more ideas on this- as I'm now quite confused..
