Laura Pearl - FMP proposals (.2)

Perhaps a bit of a pipe dream but i thought that I would post it any way...
Get in contact with Nylon magazine about doing some work with them http://www.nylonmag.com/ a trendy/fashion/young publication that has a strong following in print and online. After my conversations with Becky Smith, which concluded that additional supplements for the magazine were a "no-no" because of the extra costs for her (so huge!), I am interested in working on some kind of online blog (something that is a string contingent of the Nylon website) I believe I could really offer them something, not just cool graphics but myself, as I live and always have in london, and regularly travel to NY and have a lot of "hipster" "nylon-esque" friends there! Perhaps I could do an online diary/guide/review of New York vs London from one persons perspective. Nylon (new york/london) has a visual appearance that I feel goes well with my style of working, and would compliment my work on Lula. Added to this I feel that it would be a great oppertunity for me to make connections with a publication that exists in new york, ( where i have been returning to regularly since my exchange there in the 2nd year) I am going to NYC in 2 weeks so I can hopefully arrange a meeting with them if they feel they can offer me something/we decide this is a gooer..) SENDING OFF AN EMAIL TO THEM NOW!

if this doesn't work out (because i can't get/dont want nylon on board) then I still feel this could be an interesting angle to go from, utilising the web as a communication tool/online blogging to document the visual cultures going on in these 2 cities (artists, designers, cafe's that offer a bit of atmosphere) etc etc, im going to look at other possible avenues (perhaps time out or STA travel )and continue to think up ideas!

The possibility of it all sounds very exciting especially as you'll be jetting off to NY soon! Collaborating with NYLON would really make this idea stand out as well.

The overall outcome may need refining but you'll know better after you hear from them. So... I hope you bowl them over with you Laura-ness and this goes ahead!

Whilst it's ok in principle to contact mag, looking at layouts in established Nylon style etc is not inventive enough. Besides which it will take time to get a brief and I am determined to have al projects approved by friday...we are too weeks into the unit at that point!
