Lisa FMP idea {NEW}

LISA RAHMAN RE-POST:
1) Visual Chinese Whispers... (main idea)

We all know the notion of a Chinese Whisper and the fact that information degrades and reduces in value when being told third or fourth hand or may even gain in importance and interest. I intend to explore this notion through the experiment of a Visual Chinese Whispers with established designers each passing there vision of what was drawn before them onto the next person... I will then collect the results and document it into a book which I will arrange to get showcased within a design magazine.

2) Objects with meaning...
- Following on from my superstitions idea I want to look at objects that have hidden stories and hold memories for many; from my four year old cousin who carries around a hair clip because she thinks it's magical, to the old lady who carries a rock (essentially a big flat pebble) given to her by her late husband. I intend to photograph these people and document the object and the reason that it was kept.

3) Promotional material for Eco-Fashion designer (not Ria, but meeting with new client in progress)

YES YES YES to the first one. I think the you'd make the second look beautiful and the third depends on whether or not you feel this new contact is right for you. :) :)

Im liking both but the second would involve finding enough people with these special objects, which might not be that hard actually, but I really like the idea of chinese whispers... specially if you could involve a live element at the end in a magazine, really nice idea. Polly x

The visual chinese whispers is really interesting- especially as it doesn't seem like a familiar concept. While most ideas are done over and over, in different ways ofcourse- this is definitely unique..
i definitely think you should go for it!!
I would think of other methods of execution though- although you'll do the book beautifully, that is your forte and a variety for your portfolio might be beneficial?
Good Luck..

Hi Lisa,

I have seen a version of visual Chinese whispers - someone started with a drawing of a chair and passed it through a selection of people, asking each to copy the previous drawing, to get a fairly strange result. I'm trying desperately to remember where I saw it - may have been CSM's final graphics degree show last year.

That's the only example I've seen, though - I still think it's a really interesting idea.

Hey all, Thanks for the posts!
I really wanted the core idea to be "different"... would be a shame if it has been done but they may have not done it well (ha! I live in hope)... and I guess it depends who I end up asking and how I display it that will hopefully make it stand out... Hmm... will have a think and rework something else into it. Will repost soon.
