Deskspace vs Headspace
After I pitched the concept regarding exploring the designers working space, I received a number of emails suggesting I repitched the idea as they felt it had more scope. I am aware that Creative Review did an article exploring studio space. However, I am specifically interested in the space individual designers create for their head space.
The way in which designers choose to personalise the space in which they work, specifically within their desk space, from their desktop image to the choice of toys sat upon their imac’s are both insightful and unique to each designer. Documenting a diverse range of designers desk spaces would provide a contextual reference of how designers choose to work creating a visual snap shot in time. I intend to document a broad cultural spectrum of desk spaces, visiting a number of design agencies across various cities from New York to Tokyo, the final outcome of this project would be a collated book of photographs, other information or copy would be derived from the actual research process, perhaps including interviews around the reason behind certain objects they gain inspiration from etc.
Any comments would be great. Thank you.

Regarding the second idea, could you really afford the expense of going to these cities? Couldn't you just get them to take the photos for you?
This whole fmp stuff is a difficult process innit!?
Once again I find myself thinking 'any graphic design graduate for a half decent course could probably present these photos in a book or website'. I dont see scope for a finished product that is 'Brighter'
sounds a tiny bit like an excuse to go travelling rather than a project..
I thought GTS told you not to do this... it doesn't really sound like your core concept has changed much...
I think this sounds like a good feature in mag but thats because designers desk spaces always pop-up in mags nowadays. not really original enough. although i think you'd make it look good I don't think this is a winning idea.
all fair comments guys. got some other ideas that I will be posting soon. thanks h.
